| 内容記述 | In Japan, the existence of children who were not attending school (Chronic Absenteeism in School) was recognized as a social problem since late 1940s and educational and welfare administrations have been taking action to address this problem. In some areas, night school program had been established as a study place for such children. These topics have been covered in newspapers, magazines, and on radio and television, attracting people's attention and sometimes prompting them to take action. In this paper, it is reviewed trends in mass media coverage of and changes in attention to "chronic school absenteeism" and "night school program" from the 1950s through the 1960s, and points out what has been addressed but not discussed in mass media discourse, to provides directions for future research. |
