 note = {In this paper, the narrative structure and the growth of the illusion in the text, Joseph Conrad’s “Karain: A Memory”, are analyzed through the close reading of the text. The function of the first narrator “I” in the third part of the text is important for readers. The first narrator “I” introduces the narration of Karain with the explanation of Karain’s motive for narration. Karain narrates his experience in the form of his recollection. Karain shows readers the process of the growth of illusion.
Karain’s illusion is a psychological phenomenon. The force of this illusion has a great influence on Karain’s perception.},
